Jamshedpur, Jan 22: On the final evening of the annual three-day Rabindra Sangeet Festival organized by Tagore Society at the Rabindra Bhawan, popular exponents of this genre of music dispelled the biting, evening chill as the audience sipped the warmth of the songs rendered by the artistes from Kolkata and Bangladesh.
Utsav Das, Manoj Murli Nair and Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta from Kolkata and Bangladesh’s Tanjina Toma regaled Rabindra Sangeet enthusiasts with their lilting and highly sensitive presentations. The culmination of every song had the large Rabindra Bhawan resounding with ovation. That was the effect each artiste’s rendition evoked.
The success of this annual event was attributed to the exceptional contribution of instrumentalists who seamlessly blended rhythm into the performances. Notably, tabla virtuoso Partho Mukherjee, esraj player Nandan Dasgupta, keyboardist Shubhendu Shekhar Das, and manjira artiste Sanjivan Acharya enhanced the musical experience.
Tagore Society’s Secretary, Ashis Chowdhury emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage. He underscored the need to impart Rabindra Sangeet education to younger generations through such events, ensuring the continued legacy of this rich musical tradition. “The Tagore Society, through its initiatives, aims to nurture and inspire young talents, fostering a deeper connection with Rabindra Sangeet for generations to come,” he said.
