R.V.S. Academy hosts workshop on Data Protection for students

Jamshedpur: R.V.S. Academy, in collaboration with the British Council under the RIDS Project, conducted a workshop on Data Protection for students of Classes 9 and 11. The event aimed to raise awareness about cybercrime and data privacy in today’s increasingly interconnected digital world.

The workshop was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of the Academy’s Chairman, Binda Singh, and Principal, Visha Mohindra. Addressing the students, Mohindra remarked, “Understanding the importance of data security is crucial in this era. Awareness at a young age can go a long way in preventing cyber threats.”

The session was led by Prof. Nusrat Parveen from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at R.V.S. College of Engineering and Technology. She explained the growing risks of cybercrime and emphasized the role of personal responsibility in safeguarding sensitive information.

“Data is the backbone of innovation and communication, but its misuse can have severe consequences. This workshop equips students with practical skills to protect themselves,” Prof. Parveen said.

The interactive session covered vital topics such as identifying cyber threats, understanding privacy settings, and practicing safe online behaviour. Students engaged enthusiastically, reflecting the relevance of the topic.
