Jamshedpur, Dec. 1: The closing ceremony of Quality Month was organized at Jusco Green on Monday. Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco, graced the occasion as chief guest while Raghunath Pandey, president, Jusco Shramik Union, was the guest of honour.
November is celebrated across the globe as the quality month, not because quality is an issue associated especially with this month. Quality is vital for growth, survival and prosperity of every organization. Quality is difficult to define, but what is sure is that we all know when it is achieved and when it is not and this can be achieved, when each day, each one of us believe that �Quality is my responsibility �at all times.
During the month of November, Jusco organized several activities, events and training programs to create awareness on Quality: ICS department along with procurement department organized a 2-day skill enhancement program for the worker of its vendor�s on November 23 and 24. November is the Quality month and so the skill enhancement program intends to improve the quality of services provided by the ICS department.
Several manufactures not only showcased their products but also educated the workers on each of their product highlights and utilities, and the effective ways to use them, to enhance the service quality. About 100 supervisors and business excellence facilitators from departments such as ICS, EPC, PHHS were trained on the basic quality circle tools to enhance problem solving at their work place.
Tata young expression launched� Essay competition for the school children saw more than 80 entries on three topics �My Jamshedpur � My pride,� �Three things I would like to change about Jamshedpur� and �Is Quality of life � City Specific.�
The highlight of the closing ceremony was the quality quiz. Around 27 entries from various departments came for quiz participation out of which 4 were selected for final round. Rajesh Sinha from Tata Power, an avid quizzer and the quiz master for the evening conducted the show. Team from Water Management Department was crowned the winner of the quiz contest while team from procurement ended as runner up. Best Department in Improvement Initiatives was Water Management Department.
Quality Circle teams recognised: Team Jiwan Jyoti received International recognition in an event in Korea. Tata Young Expression: Essay Competition was held were students of class 5 to 12 participated.
Ashish Mathur and Raghunath Pandey gave away the prizes to the winners of Quality Quiz Team, Tata Young Expression Essay Competition, SGA Teams and the Best Department in Quality Initiatives.
