Purnima Sahu files nomination for Jamshedpur East, emphasizes women’s empowerment

Jamshedpur, Oct 24: BJP candidate Purnima Sahu filed her nomination papers for the Jamshedpur East Assembly seat on Thursday, accompanied by a host of prominent leaders, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda. The nomination event was marked by the presence of key political figures such as NDA candidate from Jamshedpur West, Saryu Rai, and several Bihar government ministers.

Before filing her nomination, Purnima Sahu visited the Sheetla temple in Bhalubasa and Surya Mandir in Sidhgora to seek divine blessings. Addressing a gathering at Bodhi Mandir ground in Sakchi, she expressed her commitment to serving the public. “As your sister, daughter, and sevika, I come before you with an important responsibility,” she stated. She emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his historic decision to ensure 33% representation of women in politics.

Sahu expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her by the BJP leadership and the people of Jamshedpur East, saying, “This love and trust of yours is my strength. I humbly appeal to you for your votes.” She highlighted her intention to continue the development work initiated by her father-in-law, Raghuvar Das, who served the region for 25 years.

Reflecting on the stagnation in development over the past five years, Sahu declared, “I aim to address the halted progress in education, health, employment, law and order, and women’s safety with renewed energy and determination.” She reassured the audience of her dedication to the safety and empowerment of women, stating, “Being a woman, I understand the power of Nari Shakti very well.”

The nomination procession saw a vibrant display of support from BJP workers and supporters, who gathered in large numbers at the Transport Ground in Agrico. Riding in an open jeep, Sahu received enthusiastic greetings from her supporters, reinforcing the BJP’s presence in the area. The atmosphere was charged with energy as she expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you for your overwhelming support; it inspires me to serve you faithfully.”
