Public role vital in water conservation efforts: Potka MLA

Jamshedpur, July 8: Potka MLA Menka Sardar Monday sought the cooperation of people in the successful implementation of various government projects being run with the view to conserve water and provide the same to farmers. She was speaking at the inaugural function of Jal Shakti Abhiyan in Tetla Panchayat of Potka. A large number of people including public representatives, villagers and school kids were present on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Sardar, who laid the foundation of Dobha construction work, said the Central and state governments were doing everything possible to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers and improve their condition. She said the government was worried about water scarcity and its threat in the future. She said it is the responsibility of one and all to save water and the environment. She appealed to people to plant trees, construct Dobhas and conserve rainwater.

Others present during the programme included Dr Rajnikant Mishra, Soni Kumari, Gurucharan Singh, Kamal Kishore Mandal, Tapas Tripathy and Nandlal Sardar.
