Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district police has intensified social policing with the view to ensure better results. Public cooperation is the backbone of policing and the reason behind its success. This was observed on Tuesday by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SS) of East Singhbhum, Anoop Birtharay, during a function on social policing held at Maubhandar Copper Club auditorium in Ghatsila.
Addressing the event as the chief guest, the SSP said the district police was alert especially after the killing of eight people in Kolhan over rumours of child lifting. Due to rumours, innocent people had lost their lives to public brutality, he said.
The SSP said the district police was keeping a close eye on social media platforms. Anyone found spreading rumours through social media apps like Whatsapp and Facebook will be dealt with strictly, he said.
Birtharay said those trying to foment discord among various communities of society will not be spared at any cost. Stringent legal action would be taken against such culprits, he said.
The SSP further stressed the need to spread awareness among the youths in order to educate them and make them better and responsible individuals. The gram pradhans and Mukhiyas should act responsibly and discourage rumour-mongering and superstitions, said the SSP.
The SSP said East Singhbhum had not witnessed a single incident of ‘pathalgarhi’ which indicates that the gram pradhans of the district are loyal to the Indian constitution.
Among others present during the event included SP Rural Anuranjan Kispotta, SP Operations Pranav Anand Jha, SDPO Rajendra Prasad Dubey and local tribal leaders.
