Provision of basic facilities and not big dreams for MSMEs: SCCI

Jamshedpur, August 7: An important meeting of the Department of Industries was held on Wednesday at the Project Bhawan auditorium in Ranchi. The meeting, chaired by C.S.L. Das, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, was attended by the Director of Industries, Jharkhand, along with other senior officials. The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) was represented by Puneet Kauntia (Vice President Industry) and Vinod Sharma (Secretary Industry). Representatives of other organizations were also present in the meeting.

The SCCI submitted a memorandum highlighting the challenges faced by MSME industries, particularly in Adityapur industrial area. Key issues raised in the memorandum included poor road conditions, lack of street lights, and a non-functional sewerage system. It underlined that what the MSMEs required were basic facilities and not big dreams.

Prominent points mentioned in the memorandum included improvement or abolition of the process of Delegation of Powers (DOP), provision of land for MSME industries without e-bidding, elimination of fees levied by JIADA on small works, control of theft and robbery incidents in the industrial area, addressing the reduction in security due to encroachment and establishment of an MSME Facilitation Center in Jamshedpur or Adityapur.

C.S.L. Das considered these pointers as serious issues and assured prompt action. He instructed local officials to resolve the problems promptly. This meeting, the first of its kind held by the Department of Industries in several years, raised hopes among Chamber officials for resolving many issues and enhancing business and facilities.
