Ranchi, June 2: The controversy surrounding the ramp of the Sirmatoli-Mecon flyover in Ranchi has escalated, prompting tribal organizations to call for a statewide Jharkhand bandh on June 4. The protest, led by the Central Sarna Committee (Phoolchand Tirkey group), Kanke Road Sarna Committee, and other allied organizations, demanded the removal of the ramp constructed in front of the Central Sarna Sthal at Sirmatoli.

In a joint meeting held on Sunday, various Sarna bodies finalized strategies to ensure the bandh’s success. Central Sarna Committee President Phoolchand Tirkey criticized the government’s inaction, stating that despite repeated appeals, no positive steps had been taken to address the long-standing demand.

W. Munda of the Adivasi Bachao Morcha Committee also slammed the state government’s dual approach, pointing out the contradiction between promoting the Sarna Code and ignoring issues affecting sacred tribal sites. He warned that the movement would intensify if the ramp was not removed promptly.
