Protest by religious outfits over conversion slur in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 27:  There were protest and vandalism at a house by members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, RSS and Sikh community over allegation of religious conversion against one Ravi Singh in Nanak Nagar in Tinplate under Golmuri thana. 


Police had to reach and resort to mild lathicharge to control the situation. Jamshedpur city SP Subhas Chandra Jat along with QRT team and warned the protesters of strict action if they do not stop violence. 


The protesters were accusing Ravi Singh and his wife of holding healing service on Sundays at their house and converting gullible tribals.

They allege that Ravi Singh was a Sikh but has converted along with wife. 


The protestors were pacified after Ravi Singh was taken by police for interrogation but was released in the evening. 


Golmuri police station officer-in-charge Arvind Kumar said that they are investigating into the allegation and the person was released after questioning on the issue.
