Protest against septuagenarians murder

Jamshedpur, Dec. 7: In protest against the murder of an aged man on Saturday, locals of Jugsalai along with Congress party workers staged a demonstration and blocked the main road in the area for hours on Sunday.

Locals of the Gaurishankar Road demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased and arrest of the culprits.

A resident of Gaurishankar Road said the deceased Md. Mushtaqs only daughter is about to get married and demanded, Rs 10 lakh as compensation and arrest of the culprits.

Ashok Kumar Giri, Jugsalai Police Station in-charge, reached the spot and the locals removed the blockade only after his assurance to take up the issue with higher authorities.

Significantly, the septuagenarian was killed by unidentified miscreants near the Jugsalai railway crossing in the early hours of Saturday.

Mushtaq used to sleep in a tyre repairing shop owned by one Kashif, who feared that thieves might have arrived at his shop with nefarious intentions on late Friday night.

A tube cutter was also recovered from the spot.
