All India Sikh Student Federation Burns Sports Minister’s Effigy
Jamshedpur: The All India Sikh Student Federation (Eastern India) strongly opposed the proposed India-Pakistan cricket match. Federation president Satnam Singh Gambhir said that the recent Pahalgam terror attack, in which innocent people lost their lives, is still fresh in the hearts of the nation. At such a time, holding a cricket match with Pakistan is an insult to the sacrifice of martyrs and their families.
India is scheduled to face Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 on September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
He firmly stated that as long as terrorism continues to emanate from Pakistani soil and attacks on Indian soldiers persist, no form of cricketing ties with Pakistan should be accepted. He urged the government and the BCCI to cancel the match in honour of the martyrs.
As part of the protest, Satnam Singh Gambhir, along with members of the federation, burnt an effigy of Sports Minister Mansukh Vadaliya in Sakchi on Friday. The federation reiterated its stand that until strict action is taken against terrorism, sporting ties between India and Pakistan must remain suspended.
Prominent participants in the protest included Ranjit Singh Johra, Mandeep Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Raunak Sachdeva, Jagpreet Singh, Amarpal Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Manmeet Luthra, Inderpal Singh Bhatia, Amit Kharbanda, Jitendra Singh and Shalu.
