Jamshedpur, Jan 16: Tension has escalated at MGM Medical College as paramedical staff vehemently oppose the hurried registration process for a two-year course, which is now being completed within a mere 15 days. The discontent among the paramedical staff reached its peak on Tuesday when demonstrations erupted on the MGM Medical College campus, marked by slogans targeting Hemant Soren and Banna Gupta.

Expressing their frustration, paramedical staff members revealed that they had successfully completed a two-year diploma course, followed by a one-year internship, and were currently working on a contractual basis. The Jharkhand government has recently created over 600 permanent positions for paramedical staff, requiring registration within the state. However, concerns have arisen as those who previously completed a six-month course outside the state are now being granted equivalent status after only 15 days of additional training, with their registration processed in Jharkhand.

Feeling deceived, the paramedical staff had previously raised the issue with authorities, leading to an initial acknowledgment. Despite assurances, the accelerated registration process has resumed, causing dissatisfaction among the protesting staff. The Paramedical Staff Association lodged multiple complaints with Banna Gupta, but a satisfactory resolution remains elusive. Reports suggest that 50 percent of all vacant positions have been reserved, further fueling the discontent.
Paramedical staff members warn that if their demands are not addressed promptly, the protest movement may escalate into more forceful demonstrations. The situation remains tense as the government faces increasing pressure to address the concerns raised by the aggrieved paramedical staff.
