Jamshedpur: Prominent Hindustani classical vocal exponent and teacher Kaveri Dutta breathed her last at Tata Main Hospital at 9:30 pm on Monday. An active member of Jamshedpur Music Circle, the 48 year old Kaveri Dutta was suffering from multi-organ failure.
Her mortal remains were consigned to the flames at the Swarnrekha burning ghat today. A host of Music circle members, her fans and prominent members of society accompanied her on her final journey.
The general secretary of Sangeet Kala Kendra, Tube Baridih, Gita Tiwary expressing her grief stated, “The voice of classical music that made Kaveri highly popular and respected has been silenced forever.”
A Sangeet Prabhakar degree holder, Kaveri Dutta mesmerized music lovers with her classical and bhajan renditions.
Joint secretary of Jamshedpur Music Circle, Subhash Bose said that the city had lost a star singer in the demise of Kaveri Dutta. He said that the Music Circle would soon convene a condolence meet.
