Potka: Human Resources Department Secretary of Jharkhand, Aradhana Patnayak, gave approval for the proposed upgradation of Project Girls High School of Potka into an Intermediate college. A letter in this connection was sent to the school principal Chandmuni Hansda.
Sources said as many as 25 students had applied for Intermediate admission on the first day after the approval was given. A large number of students gathered at the high school today after coming to know of the approval.
Thanking the state government for giving approval to the upgradation proposal, the principal said the girls from Potka will no longer have to go to Ghatsila, Jamshedpur or Chaibasa to get admission in Intermediate courses.
Local social worker Nikhil Mandal said the governmentís approval was a step in the direction of woman empowerment. He said the government should now pay heed to the demands for deputation of more teachers and construction of a hostel in the school.
