Ranchi: A prisoner lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail slit his own throat with a sharp object on Wednesday and succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The victim has been identified as Rahmatullah Ansari.
The prisoner was rushed to the RIMS for better treatment, where he died during treatment. The family members have accused the jail authorities of murdering Rahmatullah in the jail.
On July 13, a prisoner lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail had tried to commit suicide by slitting his throat. Jawahar Lal Banra, who was in jail on charges of selling brown sugar, had slit his own throat at the barber’s house in Astura.
