Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Jamshedpur roadshow cancelled due to heavy rainfall

Jamshedpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Jamshedpur and flagging off of Vande Bharat Express trains from Tatanagar station on Sunday was cancelled due to heavy and continuous rainfall.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jharkhand president Babulal Marandi informed the public about the cancellation via the popular social media platform, X.

Marandi wrote on X, “Due to continuous and heavy rains in Jamshedpur, the roadshow of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city today has been cancelled for the time being.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rain alert for Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha.

According to the IMD, “A deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal moved slowly westward near latitude 22.6°N and longitude 87.8°E, approximately 60 km west of Kolkata (West Bengal), 110 km southeast of Bankura (West Bengal), 170 km east of Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), and 270 km east-southeast of Ranchi (Jharkhand). It is expected to move nearly westward across Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh and gradually weaken into a depression over the next 48 hours,” IMD posted on X.

Due to heavy rainfall and low visibility, PM Modi’s helicopter could not take off from Ranchi for Jamshedpur.

According to a senior police officer stationed at the state police headquarters, a road route was also being considered for Modi’s travel to Ranchi. However, this plan was cancelled due to the continued heavy rainfall.
