Jamshedpur, Sept. 18: Maharashtra government is trying its best have the Shirdi airport inaugurated by President Ramnath Kovind. According to sources, President Kovind will inaugurate the Sai Baba Samadhi Shatabdi Mahotsav on October 1 and the same day the airport will be opened. On the occasion chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will also be present.
MADC vice president and managing director Suresh Kakani said that we will get permission from civil aviation to start flight service in the next four to five days from the Shirdi airport. MADC has spent Rs 300 crore for the development of the airport for which Rs 50 crore has been provided by the Sai Baba Sasthan.
According to estimates, around 500 passengers will daily travel from the Shirdi airport and it will reduce the travel time between Shirdi- Mumbai to 35 minutes. Alliance airlines has assured to start flight service between Mumbai-Shirdi, Jet Airways between Shirdi- Hyderabad and Indigo will operate flights between Bhopal-Nagpur-Shirdi.
