Jamshedpur: Chakulia-based environmentalist Jamuna Tudu today met District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Sanjay Kumar to demand implementation of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign in Chakulia.
Awarded by the President of India for her efforts in the field of forest conservation, Jamuna said the campaign successfully launched in other parts of East Singhbhum should also be run in the remote and interior parts of Chakulia.
She also demanded Internet, computer and television facilities in the most backward areas of Chakulia. She said the youths of the area will greatly benefit from such facilities as the area was under the clutches of Naxalism.
The DPRO said every possible measures will be taken to fulfillment the demand raised by Jamuna Tudu.
The latter has also demanded that a library be opened in Chakulia. She handed over a memorandum to this effect signed by 1000 villagers in this regard.
Members of Chakulia Van Prabandhan Evam Sanrakshan Mahasamiti, the NGO headed by Jamuna Tudu, were also present at the meeting.
