Jamshedpur: Preparations for the grand Dahre Tusu Festival 2026 formally began with an organisational meeting held on 4 December at the Aam Bagan Ground, Sakchi. The festival, an important folk celebration in Jharkhand and neighbouring regions, will be organised on 4 January 2026.
The meeting focused on planning the festival framework, forming committees, allocating budgets and assigning responsibilities. Representatives from the local administration, cultural organisations and community members participated. Key decisions included showcasing traditional Tusu songs, Chhau dance and various folk arts, ensuring robust security and crowd management in coordination with police and volunteers and inviting prominent political, social and cultural personalities.
The organising committee stated that the festival reflects collective identity and cultural heritage and urged citizens to participate wholeheartedly. Committee members present included Abhijit Mahato, Laltu Mahato, Bishal Mahato, Sudarshan Mahato, Mahadev Mahato, Shailendra Mahato and several others.
