Jamshedpur: MP Bidyut Baran Mahato recently met the Secretary of the Central Water Commission, New Delhi, to press for swift implementation of the Patamda-Bodam Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme. A proposal seeking approval for the project has already been submitted to the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
The ambitious scheme aims to provide irrigation facilities in approximately 16,900 hectares of land. The pre-feasibility report for the project, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,400 crore, was submitted to the Central Water Commission five months ago. Over the past five months, the commission has conducted three technical inspections and the reports were submitted by the state government.
During the meeting, Mahato requested the Central Water Ministry Secretary V.L. Kanta Rao to expedite technical approval for the scheme. The Secretary assured the MP that all technical aspects would be reviewed promptly and approval would be granted without delay, paving way for timely implementation of this major irrigation initiative.
