Power becomes costlier in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC) has given approval to the proposed hike in power tariff by the state electricity department.

As a result of this, the electricity supplied by the government agencies has now become costlier than the electricity provided by JUSCO.

As per the revised rate, power consumption up to 200 units (under 4 KV) will cost Rs 3. For over 200 units, the consumers will have to pay Rs 4. The rates under other categories have also been revised by the state government with the approval of JSERC.

The power hike evoked a sad response from consumers who said the extra burden on their pockets was too much to handle.

Many residents of the city blamed the government for the hike which they said could be prevented had the government avoided taking such a harsh decision.

They said the government should reconsider its decision to hike the power tariff.
