Potential rail catastrophe averted as goods train divides in Bihar

Saran: A disaster was narrowly avoided in Saran, Bihar, as a major rail accident was averted on Saturday. The incident unfolded between Bada Gopal station and Goldinganj station on the Chhapra-Sonpur railway section when a goods train split into two, narrowly avoiding a potentially catastrophic situation.

The mishap occurred when the coupling between the front and rear sections of the moving goods train broke. As a result, the train’s engine continued its journey, unknowingly leaving 32 bogies stranded behind. It was only after covering a distance of approximately 10 kilometers that the train driver became aware of the situation and promptly brought the train to a halt.

This alarming incident has raised concerns within the railway sector, prompting an urgent need for investigation and preventive measures. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage occurred during this unexpected event, alleviating the potential impact on human lives and assets.
