Jamshedpur, May 9: Anurag Kumar, 17, a civil first year student, committed suicide by hanging himself with the help of a towel in the boy’s hostel room fan at Bahragora’s Polytechnic College on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased Anurag Kumar is a resident of Ranchi Ratu Road.
He came here on May 5 last and lived in room number five of the boys’ hostel located on the college campus. This incident created chaos in the college. After getting the information, the police reached and did panchnama of the dead body. The reasons for the suicide are not known.
According to the information, Anurag Kumar had taken leave today saying that he had a headache and was in the hostel room while other students had gone to class. Meanwhile, he committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan with the help of a towel.
When the students came after the class was over, they found the door locked from inside. Peeping through the window, they found him hanging on the noose and informed police.
According to hostel superintendent Jagdish Kumar, Anurag Kumar had back semester. He came on May 5 and used to study while staying in the hostel. Principal Sanjat Kumar Mishra told that the reasons why the student committed suicide have not been known. The family of the deceased has been informed about this.
