Police to increase vigil near parks, new CCTVs to come up at Jubilee Park

Jamshedpur, March 17 : The East Singhbhum district police have decided to enhance security at the Jubilee Park and other places where people go for jogging and morning walks. The police will increase vigil at Joggers’ track on the Kadma-Sonari Link Road in Kadma , JRD Tata Sports Complex in Bistupur and at the Sumant Moolgaonkar Stadium in Telco, where people go for jogging and morning walk in large numbers.

Concerned over rising cases of crime the district police has decided to install new CCTV (closed circuit television) cameras to increase vigil and surveillance in the city. In the first and second phase 14 cameras in each phase were installed while in the third phase 22 new CCTV cameras will be installed.

“The project for installation of CCTV cameras is being worked out jointly by a private firm and the district police, and the process of installation of the gadgets has started. This is the third phase of the project. The CCTV cameras have helped to instill fear amongst the law breakers. It is also helping us to controlling traffic and identifying of errant riders involved in accidents,” noted a police official.

According to information, the entrance of the Jubilee Park and other places will be covered with CCTV cameras and regular patrolling will be carried out both in the morning as well as in the evening.

“We have started the work. Survey of these public places where the surveillance cameras will be installed is being carried. Once such points are identified, the work for installation of the CCTV cameras will start,” said a Jusco official. Patrolling at all these places, especially at the Jubilee Park has been intensified from today and that the patrolling will continue even after installation of the CCTV cameras.

Patrolling has been increased at the Kadma-Sonari Link Road and also along the road leading to the JRD Tata Sports Complex in the morning. Joggers’ Park at Kadma-Sonari Link Road is a point where a large number of men and women use to come for walking in the morning and also in the evening.

“Areas like SakchiBistupur main road, railway station, KadmaSonari link road are more prone to such cases. The gang ride up to the victim in their motorcycle and ask for directions. At a convenient time they commit the crime and flee the scene,” said a police official.
