Jamshedpur : The police team involved into probe of Upendra Singh murder case will now take Sonu Singh into remand.
The officials informed that in order to reach to the root of the reason for murder they have decided to probe every suspect and gather insight.
Sonu (24) is one of the two assailants who was nabbed after they had shot dead Upendra Singh at the Jamshedpur Bar Association building in Jamshedpur civil court in Sitaramdera. He is presently lodged at the Ghaghidih Central Jail.
Superintendent of police (city) Prashant Anand said Sonu will be taken to remand and they want to know more about the people who gave them money for the act.
“While being grilled Sonu had confessed that he and Binod Singh, presently undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital had been paid money as advance for committing the murder, it is still not clear whether the duo had actually been paid any money. We want to gather details,” said Anand.
The City SP said still several businessmen who maintains close relation with the gangster Akhilesh are being interrogated so as to find out their nexus between the gangster and the latter’s modus operandi in committing the criminal acts.
Transporter and a former JMM leader Upendra Singh (56) was gunned down by two armed criminals at bar building in Jamshedpur Civil Court in Sitaramdera on November 30 afternoon. Though there were in all five criminals of the gang at the murder scene, but only those who had shot at Upendra Singh were caught lawyers and also by police.
The police have picked up about half-a-dozen businessmen and builders having links with Akhilesh Singh, the prime accused in JMM leader Upendra Singh murder case. Among those interrogated include owner of Pardih-based hotel, Citi Inn, Binod Singh, scrap mafia Chintu Bhalotia, Sanjay Palsania and builder Jitendra Prasad.
Most of these businessmen and builders are being probed at Sakchi police station. Some others are also being grilled at Golmuri thana.
The police officer said they picked up Palsania who has gifted an Audi car to the gangster. “We are trying to find out behind the reason of gifting a costly car to the gangster by Palsania who is a resident of Telco.,” said the police officer.
Talking to , the police officer said that by interrogating the businessmen and real estate traders they are not only trying to find out the gangster’s whereabouts, but also disassociate them from carrying out business dealing so that the gangster may get financial weakened.
Though three days have passed since name of gangster Akhilesh Singh’s name figured as conspirator in the Upendra Singh murder case, the police are yet to get the whereabouts of the gangster despite frantic efforts made during this period.
Singh stepped into the crime world by abducting the mobile merchant Om Prakash Kabra on July 21, 2001. After his name figured in the Kabra abduction case, he had surrendered in the court on August 6, 2001.
He fled the judicial custody on February 18, 2002. He was arrested from Varanasi on October 7, 2004. On September 2, 2007, he was granted a parole for attending his ailing mother.
