Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan police have stepped up patrolling at night to tighten noose around alcoholics and drug addicts.
The move comes after reports of addicts causing harassment to women at various places in the district during night.
In connection with the problem caused by addicts, the sub divisional police officer (SDPO) of Seraikela Deepak Kumar convened a meeting of all officers in-charge of various police stations in Seraikela on Thursday and directed them to take action against addicts.
The SDPO asked the OCs to keep an eye on trouble-mongers who harass women or cause them to feel insecure at night after smoking cannabis (ganja) or taking opium.
Some of the police officials said that certain people were engaged in the supply of cannabis near the Shiv Mandir Shamshan Kali temple.
Several culprits were detained and later released on warning during night patrolling, said Rajeev Kumar, OC of Seraikela PS.
