Jamshedpur: Seraikela-Kharsawan police Saturday recovered the gun snatched by bank robbers from the security guard of HDFC Bank within 24 hours. The gun was found near Jusco sub-station in Adityapur Industrial Area, sources said.
Police said a crude bomb was also recovered from the place where the robbers had dumped the looted gun. No arresting was made till late night, they said.
Seraikela-Kharsawan SP Chandan Kumar Sinha said police had obtained the CCTV footage of the bank. He said no robbery had taken place in the bank and the criminals had only looted the gun and bullets from the security guard. The entire incident took place within five minutes, he said.
Armed criminals had taken the security guard and women employees of the said bank in Adityapur on Friday afternoon. They also took away Rs 40,000 cash kept near the bank counter. One of the employees had pressed the siren which led the robbers to escape.
