Police nab murder suspects

Jamshedpur: Police have arrested Rahul Souleman (18) and Bobby Mandal (19) in connection with a murder case in which one Virendra Soni was killed on January 28.

The police seized one country-made pistol and one live cartridge from the accused.

Rahul Souleman, son of Raju Souleman is a resident of Hadia Basti, Khuntadih while Bobby Mandal, so of Late Binod Mandal is a resident of Birsanagar.

The deceased was a wall painter who was shot at a spot falling under Sonari PS. A case was registered in this connection (no 22/5) under section 302 of IPC and the arms act. A team was constituted for investigation of the case soon after Virendra Soni died at TMH.

Acting of tip-off the investigating team arrested Rahul and Raju who have confessed to their complicity in the case. The accused revealed that the victim died after the loaded pistol misfired while Virendra along with Rahul and Bobby were handling the firearm.

CS takes up the cudgel to regulate traffic

Ranchi: Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba has issued directives to Urban Development Department, Transport Department, Municipality, DTO, Police, administration and Road Transport Department to improve traffic scenario in Ranchi. He said that with the combined efforts the traffic problems could be sorted out.

He urged the officials to draw up a plan of action to streamline traffic in the State capital. Gauba held a high-level meeting to the effect at Project Bhavan today.

The Chief Secretary directed the Ranchi SSP to create new posts if need be to improve law and order and regulate traffic in Ranchi.

While the CS stressed on the need to activate the control room, the Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar presented plan for crime control. The SSP said that CCTV cameras would be installed at main spots in the city for better surveillance.

Traffic SP YS Ramesh said on the occasion that anti-encroachment drives were being carried out to streamline traffic.

He proposed setting up of parking lots and continuation of the eviction drive on and around main roads. Ramesh spoke about a long-time plan for improvement in traffic system.

Additional chief secretary, NN Pandey, DGP, Rajiv Kumar, AK Singh of Urban Development Department and other senior officials attended the meeting.
