Police foil plan to murder Kartik Munda, arrest two with arms

Jamshedpur: Continuing its crackdown on gangs carrying out organized crime in the city, police arrested two persons with arms near Gaur Busti, Mango, thereby foiling their attempt to carry out a major crime in the city on Saturday.

Police said the accused persons, identified as Samrat Mandal, resident of Birsanagar, and Ravi Prakash Rai, resident of Sidhgora, were nabbed before they were going to kill gangster Kartik Munda and extort huge sums from city builders.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) of East Singhbhum Amol Venukant Homkar said a team was set up to nab the accused persons on the basis of a tip-off. Cops arrested the accused persons near Basera Apartment, Mangolia block, in Gaur Busti around 9 pm.

Cops seized a loaded country-made pistol and six bullets from the possession of the accused persons.

During interrogation, the accused persons spilled the beans and told us they had come to the city with arms with the help of one Kanhaiya Singh with a plan to kill Kartik Munda. The accused persons had planned to extort city builders, said the SSP.

The SSP said the accused persons were earlier booked under various charges including that of theft and Arms Act by Sidhgora and Sonari police.
