Jamshedpur: Police here claimed to have foiled a loot attempt by arresting a man, identified as Sagar Kalindi, with a loaded country-made pistol and a magazine near Lal Baba Foundry under Burmamines police station area on Wednesday.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amol Venukant Homkar said the accused and his four aides had planned to rob a prominent city trader on his way from Parsudih to Burmamines.
�We had got a tip-off about the loot plan of the accused persons. A special team was set up to crack down on the culprits. Four of the accused persons escaped from the scene. We are interrogating the accused to find out the whereabouts of his accomplices,� said the SSP.
Three of the other four accused persons were identified as Sujit Kumar Sharma, Ashish Pradhan and Rishabh Bharati. One of them is yet to be identified.
The SSP said the accused persons were earlier jailed in different crimes. The accused persons had planned to rob the trader after watching his movements, he said.
