Police bust racket of thieves in Jadugora, nab four with valuables

Jamshedpur: Jadugora police on Monday claimed to have busted a racket of thieves by nabbing four persons, three of them reportedly minors, red-handed while trying to sneak into a building.

One of the accused was identified as Ajit Oraon, 18, police said. Cops took into custody four more persons on the information of the accused persons.

Sources said the accused persons (name of minors not revealed) were caught while trying to enter Raj Tower in the wee hours. Police got a tip-off about the four on phone from some local resident. They rushed to the spot and noticed the accused persons entering into the building from the window and the hole meant for the installation of exhaust fan. Some of the accused had entered into the building when police arrived, cops said.

Cops said cash and valuables worth Rs 30,000 were recovered from the possession of the accused persons.

Police officials said they were interviewing the accused persons to find out details about their racket and plans.

Cops said the racket members were mostly minors who were being used by the gang leaders to steal valuables and cash in Jadugora police station area for the last several days. The valuables were later sold elsewhere.

The said building, Raj Tower, was sealed eight months back after the accused of the multi-crore chit fund scam, Kamal Singh and Deepak Singh, were declared absconding.

Police sealed the balcony of the building with cement to prevent any further repetition of theft incident.
Members of Jadugora Chamber of Commerce and Shastri Boys Club, Jadugora, have congratulated police for their feat.
