Jadugoda, Sept 21: District police claimed a major breakthrough against Maoists on Wednesday by seizing 24 detonators, batteries, electrical components and other equipments used in making improvised explosive devices (IED) from Ghudabanda police station area.

Cops said the detonators were recovered from a camp being run in Gudabanda. A Maoist squad comprising 12 members led by Kanhu Munda and Supai Tudu was camping in the area. A police team raided the place on the basis of a tip-off and busted the camp. The Maoists fled the scene before cops could arrest them, informed SP rural Mohammad Arsi.

The SP said police had launched the combing operation around 10.30 am on Tuesday last. Joint teams of Central Reserve Police Force and state police are conducting the combing operation, he said.

“We will continue to comb the area till we are able to get to the rebels. We have succeeded in forcing the Maoists on backfoot. Joint teams are patrolling the suspected hideouts of the outlaws to foil their subversive plans,” the SP said.
