Jamshedpur: The police today busted a gang of robbers who had decamped with copper materials worth over Rs 30 lakh by entering a factory in Sundarnagar area of the city on October 15.
The police arrested two persons, including a local scrap-iron depot owner besides seizing the robbed copper materials from Gaziabad district.
The police also have seized a country-made pistol, one live cartridge, two vehicles including a small truck that the criminals had used in carrying the goods.
Those arrested were identified as Javed Mallik (28), a resident of Idgah Maidan in Jugsalai and Varun Singh, a resident of Bagbera and owner of a scrap-iron depot located at Burmamines.
Revealing about the breakthrough, senior superintendent of police Anoop T Mathew said that a gang of 14-15 robbers had swooped over the premises of Mica Mold Pvt Ltd located on Tata-Jadugora Road in Sundarnagar by taking three security guards hostage at gun point on Saturday.
He said in this connection, the police had registered a case of robbery on the FIR lodged by Harsh Agrawal, director of the Mica Mold Pvt Ltd against unknown.
According to the senior SP, they have come to know about the involvement of 11 others, three of them have been identified as Mohammed Raju, a resident of Jugslai and Raju Singh as well as Rohan Mishra alias Baccha, both residents of Adityapur, adding that these suspects have absconded after the scrap-iron depot owner was nabbed.
