Jamshedpur : The police have busted an inter-city gang of chain-snatchers after the arrest of two bike borne criminals from Kadma on Monday night.
The police also recovered three loaded pistols from the possession of them who were identified as Saurabh Singh (29), a resident of Mango and Pramendra Kumar (32), a resident of Koderma.
After grilling the two, the police established that they used to snatch gold chain at Ranchi and Jamshedpur and would sell them to a Gaya-based jeweler, Chandan Kumar Verma (22).
Revealing about the breakthrough, senior superintendent of police, Anoop T Mathew today said that the police had been put on alert after two bike-borne criminals had snatched a gold chain from Kadma-Sonari Link Road on September 24.
” We were keeping an eye of suspected people.
We get to know that the suspected chain-snatchers who had snatched a gold-chain on September 24 had once again been active in the same locality. Acting on the tip off, a special team was set up and two bike-borne youths were nabbed from the Kadma-Sonari Link Road on Monday night,” said Mathew.
On searching the police team found three pistols, including two nine MM pistols from the possession of the two. He said as the accused later confessed to have been snatching gold-chains in the steel city and also in Ranchi.
” I think this will help us to curb the rising cases of snatching. The two accused confessed to have committed 11 incidents of chain-snatching in Kadma, Sonari, Golmuri and Sidhgora thana areas during the past one week, and seven cases of chain-snatching at Bariatu and Sadar police station areas in Ranchi a fortnight ago,” said the senior SP.
