Gamharia, May 13: Following the shooting incident that took place at a cloth shop in Kandra last Friday night, District SP Anand Prakash visited and inspected the site on Saturday. He took information about the incident from the shop operator Praveen Agarwal and assured that the accused would be arrested soon.
Raids are being conducted at various locations to catch the anti-social elements responsible for the attack. The incident took place when criminals fired three rounds in Shweta Store and shot a customer, Nimai Mandal, in the leg. The criminals left a pamphlet threatening dire consequences if extortion money was not paid, which also included the names of the accused, Shravan Mahato and Rahul Singh.

It has been revealed that the accused had previously demanded extortion money of Rs 20 lakhs from the businessman. Although the matter was reported to the local police, they did not take it seriously. This emboldened the criminals, leading to the shooting incident.
One of the accused, Shravan Mahato, has been jailed in the past for the murder of Kandra businessman Shivji Prasad. However, being a minor at the time, he was sent to a remand home and absconded. Local businessmen have demanded the district administration to deploy police force in the Kandra market daily and provide security to them. The police have assured the public that swift action will be taken against the criminals responsible for the incident.
