Police arrest four members of robbers’ gang

Jamshedpur : The police arrested four members of an inter-state robbers’ gang at Old Purulia Road Crossing under Mango police station area late last night.

They were planning to rob passengers from a bus somewhere between Pardih and Dimna on the NH-33 around midnight.

The police recovered a loaded pistol, six cartridges of .315 calibre and a knife from the possession of the accused. The arrested persons were identified as Mohammed Sazim Ansari, Mohammed Sajjid, Mohammed Sarfuddin and Sarfraj Alam.

Superintendent of police (city) Karthik S said that acting on a tip off a team led by Mango inspector Laxman Paswan, officer-in-charge Golmuri police station Nehaluddin Khan and other police officials raids were conducted. The police party raided the spot, two of the criminals managed to escape whereas four of them were nabbed.

Addressing the media, the SP (City) said that the police party recovered the fire-arms-ammunition and a knife from the possession of the accused. Later the accused confessed that they were plotting to rob the passengers.

According to police, both Mohammed Sajjid and Sazim Ansari were residents of Purulia and were wanted by the Purulia district in connection with murder and robbery there.
