Jamshedpur : Accompanied with senior leaders, thousands of supporters and party workers former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for Kharsawan (ST) assembly seat.
Earlier in the day Munda clad in a spotless white payjama kurta and red colour Nehru jacket left his residence sharp after seeking blessings of supporters and went to the Seraikela DC office to file his nomination papers.
BJP State President Ravindra Rai and some other senior party leaders like PN Singh, Munda reached the office at Seraikela, about 40 km from here, around 12: 00 noon and submitted nomination papers before the returning officer (RO) Sandeep Daraiburu.
Addressing media Munda charged the opposition parties of conspiring to push the State back into destabilise. He accused the opposition of plot to destabilise the popular Government in the State. He stated that the people of Kharswan would teach the opposition a lesson for conspiring to destabilize the popular government.
He stated that his priority is development of villages, bringing about and irrigation and promotion of industry. He pointed out he would go to the voters on the manifesto of bringing about development.
He also declared that if elected to power and set up the government, then he spread education in every part of the State.
Munda, former Lok Sabha member from Jamshedpur, took oath as chief minister on September 11, 2011. Munda has represented Kharsawan seat thrice in 1995, 2000 and 2005 and enjoys a massive support base in the constituency.
In 2009, Munda got elected for the Lok Sabha from Jamshedpur seat and in his place the BJP fielded Mangal Singh Soy, who won the assembly polls in 2010 by a huge margin.
When Munda became Chief Minister in September and was looking for a seat to enter the state assembly, Soy resigned on November 30 to pave way for his leader.
Over 500 party supporters, including women gathered at the Seraikela-Kharsawan district collectorate pm when Munda arrived there from Kharsawan for filing the nomination.
He was received by enthusiastic crowd which shouted slogans in his favour.
