Jamshedpur, Oct 6: In a breakthrough, West Singhbhum police nabbed an active member of Kande Honhaga squad of banned outfit CPI-Maoist. A team of security personnel under Tonto police station succeeded in arresting Bir Singh Mundari, an active member of the Kande Honhaga squad.
Sources informed that Superintendent of Police Ajay Linda had received a tip off that an active member of the Kande Honhaga squad was about to come to Tonto.
Soon a team was formed under the leadership of Sagein Murmu, the station in-charge of Tonto police station and raided. As soon as the police reached Tonto Chowk, a person started escaping after seeing the police. The police ran and nabbed him. On interrogating the arrested person, he revealed his name as Bir Singh Mundari. He is a resident of Munda Sai Tola of Rengra Hatu village.
In June 2021, he was involved in an encounter with the police in the forest of Rengrahatu. An FIR has been registered against him in Tonto police station under 27 Arms Act and 17 CLA. During interrogation, Bir Singh revealed that he had joined the Maoist organidation in the year 2018. After receiving training in Kande Honhaga’s organization, he started working in his squad.
Its main task was to organise a meeting in the village and connect the local youth to the banned Maoist organisation.
A police official informed that the arrest of Bir Singh has broken the morale of Kande Honhaga’s squad. The police have sent the arrested Naxalite to jail on Wednesday.
In addition to the Tonto police station in-charge, the raiding team included JAP-9 personnel including Police Sub Inspector Ravi Narayan Jha, Upendra Kumar, Babudhan Soren, Subhash Pandit.
