Jamshedpur, June 21: The 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated as “Poetry of Movement” at Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) keeping in mind the theme for this year: “Be with Yoga, Be at Home.”
A yoga competition was held on virtual mode. The present pandemic has given us a message that we need to go back to our roots and revive our old traditions and culture to regain our physical, mental and spiritual health.
Students from Std 1 to Std 8 participated in this contest. After the Preliminary Round on 18th and 19th of June, about 48 students took part in the final contest.
The judges for the event were Pinki Ghosh, (International Yoga instructor, Referee at National Yoga Federation of India and Asian Yoga Federation of India, gold medalist at National and Asian level), Shubhashish Bhaduri (Yoga teacher at Jamshedpur Women’s College) and Pragyna Paromita Chakraborty (Yoga instructor at Sai Gurukul Institute in Jamshedpur and a National gold medalist).
A rhythmic dance was performed by Harshita Hansda, a student of class 9A, before the commencement of the competition. Students of class 1 to 8 participated in the contest.
Some asanas like Vrikshasana, Trikonasana, Tuladandasana and Paschimottanasana were performed by the students.
Winners were awarded e- certificates.
The contest was followed by a demonstration of breathing exercises by Bhargabi Mandal, Shreya Bhattacharjee and Ashmita Manna, and an artistic dance with yoga poses by Shreya Roy.
