Mandal Dam to benefit Palamau and Garhwa farmers

Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had fulfilled the promise made to the people of Jharkhand. He said the PM will be laying the foundation stone of Mandal Dam in Palamau on 5th January. The dam will be constructed at an expense of Rs 2500 crore, he said.
The CM said the dam construction was hanging fire since 1972. But the Central and state governments expedited the work, leading to commencement of the pending project. The dam will directly benefit the farmers of Palamau and Garhwa, said the CM.
Das said the PM will also lay the foundation stone of irrigation and drinking water project in Palamau and Garwha on River Sone. �A pipeline will be laid for this purpose. Land acquisition will not be required for this purpose. With irrigation facility, farmers will become prosperous,� he said.
