Jamshedpur, September 15: Unabated rain played spoil-sport as the much anticipated arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jamshedpur was partially dampened for the crowds who awaited his arrival at Tatanagar Railway Station to inaugurate the Vande Bharat Express trains and later at the Parking to disburse the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna to beneficiaries had to return home dejected because of the last moment cancellation of his schedule due to weather conditions.

Those who had jostled for vantage points along the route of the Prime Minister’s road show too were disappointed.

But hope against hope sometimes yields results. Some spirits cannot be dampened by incessant rains.

All news about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Jamshedpur engagements being called off due to weather conditions spread across social media like Australian bushfire.

The Prime Minister, who was in Ranchi and performed his Jamshedpur engagements online, learnt that thousands of people were eagerly anticipating his visit to the steel city. He made up his mind to do the journey of 120 kilometres by road.

He arrived at the Gopal Maidan at 1 pm to a tumultuous reception of more than a thousand diehards who had braved the slushy ground conditions and unabated rain to hear in person Narendra Modi. They withstood the uncomfortable conditions with their spirit and expectations submerging any scope for grumbling.

It was ‘their Narendra Modi’ who addressed them for 45 minutes, punctuated by loud claps and the more than occasional slogans of ‘Narendra Modi Zindabad.’  No one felt the aching legs as they stood on the soft and slushy Gopal Maidan for hours awaiting the Prime Minister’s arrival and address with bated breath.

Rathindranath Mahapatra from Adityapur excitedly observed, “To hear Narendra Modi Ji live is a lifetime experience. His conviction is contagious. I have heard him on TV and radio and today, live and almost all know that he means what he says. He is a Messiah.”

The atmosphere at Gopal Maidan was electric. Almost the entire expanse of the large Gopal Maidan was dotted with heads. The entire space seemed like a huge classroom of students listening to the lecture of their favourite teacher.

Baiju Yadav who had come all the way from Jadugora exclaimed, “I am blessed to see and hear Prime Minister Narendra Modi in person. He is so clear in his thoughts. He is frank, fearless and means what he says. I salute such a leader who is respected by the world.”

“Narendra Modi’s charismatic personality, his speech and the manner of his addressing the people left no space for doubt that he was the man whom the nation could rely upon. Even his most vehement critics cannot help but respect him at heart. He is India’s man for all seasons, all terrains,” opined Abhishek Kumar, a computer analyst. His observation is an apt conclusion of a man for whom one can wait endless hours.
