Jamshedpur, January 19: As part of plastic free India campaign on Thursday, SDO Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha along with Jugsalai municipal council and city traffic police carried out inspection at Jugsalai.
The inspection between Veer Kunwar Singh via Bata Chowk till Jugsalai railway gate took action not only against banned plastics but also took action against encroachment, filth spreaders, traders without trade license and collected a fine of Rs 38,400 from violators.
Out of this only 294 kg of banned single use plastic was seized from Card House, Station Road Jugsalai.

Under the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2021, it has been clarified that carry bags or products made of plastic with a thickness of less than 75 microns and non-woven plastic carry bags of 60 grams per square meter (GSM) is prohibited. Also, from January 01, 2023, the import, storage, distribution, sale and use of carry bags or products made of plastic with a thickness of less than 120 microns is a punishable offence.
