Jamshedpur: A plantation programme was organized at Upgraded Middle School, Tangrain,, in Potka on Saturday in collaboration with social organization Urvita and Patanjali Yog Samiti, East Singhbhum. More than 200 fruit-bearing and medicinal trees were planted today. A couple of hundred students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Neena Sharma, secretary of Urvita, said it is the duty of one and all to save the environment by planting more and more trees. She said Nature was the mother of all living beings and hence environment conservation efforts should be put in by all stakeholders.
The school Principal Arbind Tiwary welcomed the guests and apprised them about various activities of the students.
Before plantation, the students recited poems. The chief guest donated several books for the school library.
Among others present during the programme included Divisional Forest Officer Saba Alam Ansari, Range Forest Officer of Ghatsila SK Verma, Pramod Kumar of YUVA, Usha Devi of Urvita, ID Tiwary, Preeti and Anshu.
