Jamshedpur, Jan 8: The result of the PhD entrance exam at Kolhan University, conducted on December 3, 2023, has yet to be released, even after more than a year. Around 1,200 candidates appeared for the exam, and their frustration is growing as the results remain pending. Many candidates have now lost hope, questioning the university’s ability to manage the process efficiently.
According to the examination department, delays in result declaration are primarily due to the retirement of several committee members responsible for checking the copies. As a result, the necessary meetings and copy evaluations could not be carried out. The PhD entrance exam was held at Tata College and the PG department, with students from across Jharkhand participating.
The university had collected an examination fee of Rs 1,000 from each student, totaling around Rs 12 lakh. Despite this significant amount, the results are still awaited.
Students threaten protest if results aren’t declared soon
Sanatan Pinguwa, a student representative, expressed disappointment with the university’s handling of the situation. He stated, “Kolhan University is not serious about the exam. It’s been almost a year, and still no results. Candidates are very upset. If the results are not declared within a week, we will stage a protest.”
Examination department responds
Dr. Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, the Controller of Examinations, acknowledged the delays but assured that the result would be declared soon. “A committee was formed for the entrance exam, but some members have retired. The evaluation process could not be completed. We will now include new members in the committee and start the process of declaring the results,” he said.
Changes to exam schedule
In other news, Kolhan University’s examination department has announced changes to the UG and B.Ed. exam schedules. The B.Ed. exam, originally set for January 9, will be rescheduled to accommodate a national sports competition in which Kolhan University students are participating.
