Seraikela, Sep 2: Permanent Lok Adalat of Seraikela-Kharsawan has given relief to one Saraswati Mahato of Nimdih, a daily worker, by ordering the Nimdih Post Office to return her savings along with interest.
The chairman of Permanent Lok Adalat, Rakesh Mishra, in his order directed the post office to return Saraswati’s hard-earned savings to her without delay.
Saraswati had approached the Lok Adalat and complained against the Post Master Lakhimani Devi alleging that she had refused to release her savings amount to her on demand. Saraswati badly needed to money for the treatment of her seriously ill elder sister. She was allegedly told she could only withdraw Rs 37,089 out of her total savings of Rs 65680 from the post office. She was also reportedly threatened and asked to take the remaining amount in March. In the meantime, her sister passed away. Deeply hurt, she approached the Permanent Lok Adalat to get justice. During hearing, it was found that the post office was being run by Mohit Kumar Sen, husband of the Post Master, in his wife’s place.
