Ranchi, May 30: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi declared the class 10 and class 12 (Science and Commerce) 2017 results on Tuesday.
The results were announced by State education minister Neera Yadav. This year a total of 57.9 % students in class 10 while 52.36 % in class 12 science and 60.09 % students in class 12 commerce cleared the exam. In the year 2016 total of 67.54% students cleared the class 10 exam which sees a dip in 10%.
Out of the 4,67,193 students who registered for the exams, 4,63,311 appeared for the papers, and only 2,68,308 passed.
In class 10 East Singhbhum students proved their mettle and bagged the first position while Ranchi students were in second place and Latehar was the worst performer. When comparing it with last year and the results have been downgraded. Class 10 results declared on Tuesday witnessed an all-time-low pass percentage since 2005, with only 57% of around 4.66 lakh examinees making the grade.
Total of 14,722 students secured the first position, 30,424 students were second while 2430 students got the third rank in class 12 science .
91,957 students appeared in class 12 science and 47,923 students appeared in class 12 commerce.
In class 12 science as well as commerce, the pass percentage dipped compared to last year. Out of the 90,871 examinees in science, 47,589 passed the exams, securing a pass percentage of 52.36%. In class 12 commerce, out of the 47,622 students, 28,618 passed, achieving a pass percentage of 60.09% were 6009 students secured the first position, 19326 students were second while 3282 students got third rank.
On the occasion JAC chairperson Arvind Singh said the performance of students was satisfactory, but they needed to strive hard for better performance in the years to come.
This year, the exams started on February 19 and concluded on March 7 amidst strict security measures as many of the exam centres fell in Maoist-hit areas of the tribal state. The exams, however, witnessed a few cases of students using unfair means and reported paper leaks, which were addressed.
State education minister Neera Yadav who declared the results of class 10 and class 12 (science and commerce) online from the JAC premises in Ranchi on Tuesday, had a word of encouragement for those who did not fare well.
�Do not get disheartened if you failed to secure good marks this time. Life will give you opportunities in future, and you should focus on them,� Yadav said.
State school education and literacy secretary Aradhana Patnaik, JAC chairman Dr. Arvind Prasad Singh, director of secondary education Chandrasekhar and others were present.
The Jharkhand Academic Council Intermediate Arts Result 2017 will be delayed and are expected by mid-June, 2017. It may be noted that evaluation of copies of class 10 and 12 started from April 11.
For evaluation of class 10 copies 20 centers and for class 12 evaluation 16 centres were set up in different districts of the state.
