Jamshedpur, Sep 9: People for Change (PFC), an organisation working with children, women and largely with young people and youth volunteers had organised Plocka Upp, a plogging drive along with the Tata Steel Foundation (TSF).
As PFC celebrates Volunteering month this September, it has lined up several events celebrating youth volunteerism for an entire month. 30 volunteers in total from People for Change and Tata Steel were a part of the drive that took place behind Dimna Lake on Wednesday, September 8. The plogging drive to inculcate a habit of picking up litter began early morning at 6 AM and went on till 9 AM where volunteers in five teams cleaned 1/2 kilometer of area completely and got rid of the mess and rubbish.
Volunteers promised to keep Dimna clean for visitors as well as for locals owing to which, there were natives from Dimna who upon seeing the volunteers in action joined hands and helped in the plogging drive.
Considering the mammoth task pulled off so well by young people, People for Change plans on doing continuous plogging and cleaning drives every week in different locations in Jamshedpur for the entire month.
