Jamshedpur: Following the instructions of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, peace committee meeting is being organized at the police station level in the district regarding Bakrid. In the meeting held in many police stations, the festival of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha) on June 17 was discussed to be celebrated peacefully and to maintain law and order. During this, everyone was appealed to celebrate the festival in a brotherly and harmonious environment. The peace committee members were appealed not to pay attention to any kind of rumours during the festival, and also make people aware at their own level. Do not do anything that hurts the sentiments of people of other religions. During the festival, a strict watch will be kept on rumours through social media and strict action will be ensured against anti-social elements and those who spread unrest.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the people of the district should celebrate the festival by respecting each other’s sentiments in the festive atmosphere. He has directed both the sub-divisional officers, all BDOs, COs and police station in-charges to hold a peace committee meeting in their respective police station areas by June 14 and appeal for peace. Along with this, instructions have been given to the municipal body officials to ensure cleanliness, and if there is a need for repair of street lights and high mast lights, then ensure it immediately. Also said that special monitoring should be kept on social media during the Bakrid festival. If any objectionable post is shared on any social media platform including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, then immediately identify the person concerned and take action under relevant sections. COs and station in-charges have also been instructed to coordinate and conduct intensive raids against the manufacture and sale of illegal liquor in their respective areas, submit welfare reports of their areas to the district headquarters from time to time, keep special vigil at sensitive places.
