Seraikela, July 8: A peace committee meeting was convened at Seraikela Sadar police station ahead of Bakrid here on Friday. It was chaired by Sonaram Bodra, chairperson, Zila Parishad. It was unanimously decided to ensure peace during the festival through coordination with police officials and other district administration authorities.
Many Nagar Panchayat officials were present along with BDO Mrityunjay Kumar, Circle Officer Suresh Kumar Sinha, SHO Manohar Kumar and local dignitaries. The BDO and SHO appealed to people to cooperate with the administration and celebrate the festival with communal harmony and brotherhood. They said animal sacrifices should not be made in the open. They further added that no objectionable content should be posted or shared on social media by anyone. Stern action would be taken against those trying to foment communal discord, they said.
