Jamshedpur, Oct. 27: Jharkhand minister for food and civil supplies, Saryu Rai held a review meeting related to the National Food Security Act, which was launched in the State last month.
Addressing the meeting, Rai enquired about the progress report regarding distribution of pulses in the state. State food department secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey said that pulses distribution under National Food Security Act to PDS (public distribution system) beneficiaries will commence from the next fiscal.
Those present at the meeting discussion also discussed about the firm steps initiated by the State government to keep an eye on sky-rocketing prices of pulses and controlling the price of different kinds of food grains.
Taking up the issue of complaints relating to ration cards of the beneficiaries, the minister ordered the department secretary to solve the issue at the earliest. On his part, Choubey informed that he held talks with deputy commissioners of all the districts and the work of distributing ration cards will be completed in the next three days.
Rai also ordered the senior officers to do physical inspection in different districts so that the food grains are not wasted. The minister was also informed about the shortage of officers in the department, which is responsible for several issues and urged him to issue a notification to recruit marketing officers to the Staff Selection Commission.
Among others, Special Secretary Ravi Ranjan, Additional Secretary Basant Kumar das, Deputy Secretary Aalok Trivedi and the ministerís personal secretary Kumar Manish was present at the meeting.
